Two long-distance trains running on Konkan Railway with old type Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches will now run with modern system Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. LHB coaches will be added to Jamnagar – Tirunelveli – Jamnagar Bi-weekly Express and Hapa-Madgaon Weekly Express.


Old type ICF coaches are being converted into LHB coaches for passenger safety and faster travel. This process is underway in every section of Indian Railways and hundreds of trains are running with LHB coaches. Now the number of trains with LHB coaches on Konkan Railway is being increased.

Train No. 19578 Jamnagar – Tirunelveli Express will run from August 26 and Train No. 19577 Tirunelveli – Jamnagar from August 29 with LHB coaches. Train No. 22908 Hapa – Madgaon will run from August 30, while Train No. 22908 Madgaon – Hapa Express will run from September 1 with LHB type coaches. The addition of LHB coaches has changed the coach structure of both the trains. So one sleeper compartment is reduced. The number of seats in the third class coaches has increased to 9 passengers. Konkan Railway informed that there will be a total of 22 coaches such as air-conditioned second class 2 coaches, air-conditioned economy third class 6 coaches, 8 sleeper coaches, general 3 coaches, generator car one coach, SLR coach one, pantry car as per the storage of revised coaches.
