On Wednesday, August 11, the offline verification process has reportedly started to ensure that citizens who have received both the doses of coronavirus vaccine get to travel on the Mumbai locals.

According to sources, the verification will continue for two consecutive sessions from 7 am to 11 pm at 53 railway stations in Mumbai and 109 stations in the entire Mumbai metropolis. Accordingly, the monthly pass will be given to the citizens by the railways, informed the Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.

  • Eligible citizens who have taken both doses have been allowed to travel by the Mumbai locals from August 15.
  • Creating an app and starting the online process will be initiated in a short time.
  • Prior to that, the offline process will continue all day of the week.
  • Residents of the area should go to the nearest railway station and go through the process.
  • However, citizens have been asked to not crowd the stations.
  • Citizens who have completed 14 days after taking the second dose of the vaccine should go to the nearest railway station with a copy of the valid certificate and photo identity card proof. Moreover, security will be beefed up at the stations in view of the possibility of congestion.
  • There will be 358 help desks near the ticket windows at 109 stations on Central, West and Harbor Lines.
  • Municipal staff on the unit will check the validity of the final certificate taken by the concerned citizen on both doses on the Cowin app.
  • Photo ID will also be checked for evidence.
  • If both the documents are valid in the verification, a copy of the photo identity proof along with the certificate will be stamped.
  • A monthly train pass will be issued by the railway administration after the stamped certificate is presented at the ticket window at the station.
  • Strict police action will be taken against those who bring fake certificates under the Contagious Diseases Control Act, Emergency Management Act, Indian Penal Code.
  • Passengers are urged to adhere strictly to other rules, including wearing masks while travelling.
