Though the Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) have tightened the security on railway stations by placing ticket checkers, many of the passengers successfully escape the bait and railways face the losses.

Many cases are surfacing where passengers have been caught for ticketless travelling, using season ticket of another person, etc. Despite repeated warnings, the cases are increasing on a daily basis.


WR recovers the loss from ticketless travellers

In the month of October, WR officials collected fine of INR 12.35 crore and filed 2.64 lakh complaints against ticket-less travellers. Compared to last year, such kind of passengers has increased by 12.4 per cent. Also, fake ticket sellers were prosecuted amongst which 151 were produced in the court.

Along with collecting fine, 825 beggars and illegal hawkers were ousted from the station premises and 153 were sent to jail.

Apart from this, 45 students above 12 years were caught while travelling in a ladies compartment. The WR officials have asked passengers not to travel without a ticket as the former will not spare.
