Third AC local for Western railway arrives at Kurla carshed

The western and central line are expected to have six AC locals each running on their railway tracks by 2020.

The third AC local which will function on the Western railway line has arrived at Kurla carshed in Mumbai. It is good news for people who travel by AC locals in the city. The Medha AC local was constructed under ‘Make in India’ initiative. 

The AC local will be open for public use after it completes its trial run which will be carried out from Kalyan to Kasara railway station on the central line. After the trial run’s success, the AC local will included on the Western line. 

The western and central line will have six AC locals each running on their railway tracks till the year 2020. Of the six AC locals, the Western railway already has two and the third AC local will be functional soon.

Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) officials will supervise the trial run of the new AC local on the central railway line. The railway administration had increased the ticket price of AC local from June 1 by 1.3 times from the previous 1.2 times as compared to regular local trains.
