Considering the rising number of molestation and eve-teasing cases happening in running local trains, the Western Railway has decided to up their security. The WR has decided to launch a GPS-based technology that will help in tracking the exact location of the complainant.

With the help of this technology, the WR officials will be able to reach out to a victim after a distress call is received on the toll-free helpline number 182. WR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Ravinder Bhakar said that they have carried out geofencing of the entire route, trials are underway and the system has been rolled out in all zones.

Bhakar added that the difference between the new technology and the existing one is that the RPF control room will be able to trace the exact location of the complainant. However, currently, if a person calls from any particular station on the toll-free number, the RPF control room knows that the complainant is in its territory but the exact location is not known.
