Ajay Devgn to play Chanakya in Neeraj Pandey’s next film

The 'Raid' actor said in his tweet on Wednesday that he is truly looking forward to playing Chanakya, the pioneer of political science and economics in India.

Bollywood actor best known for the Golmaal series, Ajay Devgn has announced that he will play the role of Chanakya in the next movie directed by Neeraj Pandey. The 'Raid' actor said in his tweet on Wednesday that he is truly looking forward to playing Chanakya, the pioneer of political science and economics in India. 



Having observed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely, Ajay Devgn believes that the director will tell the story with passion as well as clarity. Neeraj, in a press statement, said that he had been developing a film on Chanakya for some time now and the project means a lot to him. The director is sure audiences will love Ajay’s portrayal of the visionary genius. The film will be produced by Reliance Entertainment. The rest of the cast and the release date is yet to be finalised.


The film will be based on the life account of Chanakya, a 4th century BC scholar, advisor, economist and political strategist. The legend is said to have played a major role in establishing the Chandragupta Maurya dynasty and has authored epic books like Arthshastra and Chanakya Niti. He is also known under the monikers ‘Kautilya’ and ‘Vishnugupt’ and used to live in 371 BC in India. He is considered as the forefather of classical economics.
