On Friday, July 3, 2020, Bollywood's veteran choreographer, Saroj Khan, passed away in Mumbai, due to cardiac arrest. She was 71. As per reports, she suffered a cardiac arrest at 1:52 AM and was cremated at the Muslim Kabristaan in Malad.

Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur took to social media to share condolences. She wrote, "Saroj ji’s name introduced the word ‘choreographer’ to my life. A genius who immortalised stars and the music that defined an era with her iconic work. May her loved ones find strength and courage at this terrible hour. There’ll never be another...#RIPSarojKhan #Legend #Masterji"

On June 20, Saroj Khan was admitted at Bandra's Gurunanak Hospital after she complained of breathlessness. However, reports state that she recovered. PTI also confirmed that her COVID-19 tests were negative.

Saroj Khan had choreographed over 2000 songs in Bollywood and was one of the most followed artists. She was awarded the 'National Award' thrice in her career. Her works like Ek Do Teen, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, Channe Ke Khet Mein, Dola Re Dola, Tabaah Hogaye, were some among the many favourites.

She is survived by her husband Sohanlal, daughters Hina and Sukyna Khan and son Hamid Khan.

Besides Saroj Khan, popular names from Bollywood like Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Wajid Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput also passed away in 2020.
