On Tuesday, 12 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Mira-Bhayander, taking the tally of cases in the area over 100. This comes after the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) had imposed a total lockdown in the area. All the shops including the one providing essential services were asked to shut down.

The 12 new cases are from Shanti Park (Mira Road East), Naya Nagar (Mira Road East), Pleasant Park (Mira Road), Indralok Phase-6 (Bhayander East), Ambedkar Nagar (Bhayander West), two from MTNL Road (Mira Road East), Shanti Nagar (Mira Road East), Shirdi Nagar (Bhayander East), Kashigaon, Opposite Raj State, Near Railway Station Main Gate (Bhayander West), Kharigaon (Bhayander East).

With the new cases emerging, the Mira-Bhaynder region now has recorded 106 positive patients so far. The rate at which the new cases are being recorded is scary. When MBMC announced the lockdown, the area had recorded 69 cases. On April 20, Monday, there were 94 positive cases from the area, and by the end of Tuesday, MBMC had recorded 12 new cases, taking the tally to 106. 

As per the MBMC, 1,287 people had travel history and they had been ordered a 14-day quarantine as per the norms. Among which, 383 have completed the 14-day tenure whereas 556 have been home-quarantined. The remaining 248 people are in quarantine under MBMC's observation. 

Meanwhile, as all the shops have been asked to remain shut till Thursday, the civic body has allowed home delivery of the essential goods between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. However, pharmacies have been allowed to remain open on the condition that people maintain social distancing while buying medicines.

With new cases emerging in the area, it is vital that the people practice social distancing norms and stay at homes. The civic body has also warned that anyone breaking the above order will be punished under the Maharashtra COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.
