On Thursday, October 21, a metropolitan magistrate court rejected Kangana Ranaut's application seeking the transfer of the ongoing proceedings against her in the defamation case filed by Javed Akhtar.

On Monday, September 20, actress Kangana Ranaut had filed a transfer application before the chief metropolitan magistrate's court. She had asked to reassign the case in some other court citing that she has 'lost faith.'

Lyricist Javed Akhtar, through his lawyer Jay Bhardwaj, had opposed Kangana's plea. He stated that the Andheri court had already issued a process against her regarding the defamation case in February. However, she remained absent, which led to the further delay of the case, causing him further harassment.

He further said that even though Kangana had challenged the Andheri court's order before the Bombay High Court, HC had upheld the procedure.

Lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui representing Kangana Ranaut, stated that even though the offences against her are cognizable and bailable, an arrest warrant was issued against her.

For the unversed, on Tuesday, September 14, a court in Mumbai had warned Kangana to remain present during the court hearing, and if she failed to mark her presence, they would issue an arrest warrant against her.
