Shah Rukh Khan's comeback film 'Pathaan' stormed the box office. The film, which has grossed more than INR 1000 crore worldwide, will now release in Bangladesh. Pathaan will hit theatres in Bangladesh almost three and a half months after its release. According to reports, the film will be released in Bangladesh on May 12. Importantly, 'Pathaan' will be the first Hindi film to be released in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh was formed in 1971. Since then not a single Hindi film has been released there. Hence, 'Pathaan' has become the first Hindi film to be released in Bangladesh for the first time. Distributors are excited as 'Pathaan' will be released in Bangladesh.
Nelson D'Souza, vice president of international distribution at Yash Raj Films, said in a statement, “Cinema has always been a force that unites countries, castes and cultures. Cinema plays an important role in inspiring and uniting people across borders. We are delighted that 'Pathaan', a historic worldwide grosser, will now get an opportunity to entertain the audience in Bangladesh."
Nelson D'Souza added, “Pathaan is the first film to be released in Bangladesh since 1971. We are thankful to the authorities there. We have been hearing for years that Shah Rukh Khan has a huge fan following in Bangladesh. Shah Rukh Khan and we feel this first Hindi film will represent Indian cinema and culture in Bangladesh.”
Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films, 'Pathaan' released worldwide on January 25. 'Pathaan' earned more than INR 1000 crores worldwide. The film also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in important roles.
