While working together on the pre-production of Shri Gulshan Kumar, producer Bhushan Kumar and director Subhash Kapoor decided on joining hands for another film, a political drama titled Madam Chief Minister which stars Manav Kaul, Saurabh Shukla, Akshay Oberoi & Shubrajyoti Barat.

After a powerful performance in Panga, walking off with the some of the best praises and reviews, Richa Chadha has now announced her much-awaited next. The actress is headlining Subhash Kapoor’s Madam Chief Minister for which she shot in Lucknow all through November and December in a straight start to finish a 40-day schedule.

Subhash, who has was a journalist, has created an anecdotal political drama and owing to his prior experience on the field it was a crackling script that immediately drew Richa in. He had been working on the script for many years and Richa was an obvious choice given that she is amongst the few well-articulated, politically and socially aware actresses of our times. Last year her film triggered a nationwide conversation on rape laws and Section 375 (also the title), which was directed by Ajay Bahl. Richa always believed that more stories need to be told about women in leadership roles and is delighted to be about her part in ‘ Madam Chief Minister ‘

Talking about the same, Richa said, "Happy to announce that our labour of love 'Madam Chief Minister' has been announced. My toughest part yet is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with particularly witty Subhash Sir and with the splendid cast Manav, Akshay Oberoi, and Saurabh Shukla."

Speaking on his next the director says, "While working as a political journalist, I came through several incidents which have led me to write this story. I am happy that Bhushanji came ahead and decided to support this film. It was during one of the discussions for Gulshanji’s biopic when I spoke about the film with him and that’s where the association on the film began.”

Bhushan Kumar further added, “Subhash has incorporated many interesting incidents and anecdotes from his experience as a political journalist into the narrative. It’s a very interesting script.”

Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series is producing the film along with Naren Kumar & Dimple Kharbanda of Kangra Talkies Pvt Ltd. The film was shot in one long schedule in Lucknow in November – December last year, and will release on July 17, 2020.
