There is a strong connection between Bollywood and Biopics, as they please the audience and critics to the best. Many ace actors have performed well in biopics, over the years, and now Ranbir Kapoor is all set to impress everyone in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, Sanju. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanju focuses on crucial chapters of Sanjay Dutt’s life.

Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the titular role, was present at the event and shared his excitement about the film.
Talking about the experience, writer Abhijat Joshi said, “Three most amazing things happened while I was writing the film. When we started putting Sanju’s story together, we realised that it was the most astonishing tale we had come across in a long time, which eventually went into 725 pages of a transcript. After filming, the difficulty was when there were too many scenes and we did not know what to keep in a movie and what to cut, as everything seemed important. The experience of working on Sanju was goofy, dramatic and unbelievable. Further, I finally met a man who could actually play this character with complete conviction and that was Ranbir. He caught and captured the soul, in all the eras that are depicted in the film. He found and struck all the chords which were needed to play Sanju. For the first time in my life, I saw an Indian actor play something so well in a biopic. And the third astonishing aspect which I saw was with Rajkumar Hirani, where his art and craft get richer. It evolved. My father always told me that Raju’s films have 3Es – Entertaining, Enlightening, and Elevating. Without losing an ounce of drama or grit, Raju has been able to maintain the 3Es of the craft.”
Adding to the thought, writer and director Rajkumar Hirani said, “I usually refer to video ideas for films and concepts. When I go to a video library, I am always wondering if to pick drama, action etc., but when Sanju told me the story I was instantly keen on doing it. It had everything that I wanted in a story and expected. I was excited to do this film, and it happened then. Casting Ranbir was key, and we knew it was difficult to play the role. The best part was he is mimicking Sanjay Dutt well, and ensured that the character does not look like a caricature. Ranbir worked a lot, and he has done a fantastic role.”
The film has already raised anticipation. Sanju will hit the screens on June 29, 2018. The trailer will be released soon!
