Maharashtra State Bank Employees Federation calls for strike on 1 April

Maharashtra State Bank Employees Federation on Wednesday held a press conference and announced strike of State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, on 1st April to oppose the amalgamation of the above banks with State Bank of India.
These 5 banks are said to be 70 to 100 years old and they don't wanted to be merged with State Bank of India.

According to CH Venkatachalam, General Secretary of All India State Bank of India Employees Association these banks which are 70 to 100 years old would loose their identity. PIL's are filed in the high court regarding this issue. He added that the government has imposed this order of merging the banks with State Bank of India, without thinking about the citizens. All India State Bank of India Employees Association has opposed this order.

It is said that even people are also upset with this announcements. CM Venkatachalam said that they will be conducting seminars for the staff of the bank (officer-employee) as well as the citizens. They plan to take our a morcha with 50000 people on the parliament in September.
