In the Lok Sabha general election, voters above 85 years of age and disabled voters were given the option of home voting. House voting was held on May 13, 2024 in 153-Dahisar constituency of 26-North Lok Sabha constituency in Mumbai Suburban district. Lakshmi Rajput, a 104-year-old grandmother, exercised her right to vote at home in Dahisar West. This grandmother has fulfilled her duty with utmost responsibility and has set an example for other voters.

The home voting process has made voting completely hassle-free and smooth for senior citizens and disabled voters. 153- Dahisar Assembly Constituency has a total of 68 registered eligible voters for home voting. A total of 65 registered eligible voters exercised their right to vote today.

In line with the Election Commission of India's landmark initiative aimed at promoting inclusiveness in the Lok Sabha general elections, home voting for senior citizens aged 85 years and above and persons with disabilities was successfully conducted in 153 Dahisar assembly constituencies. Through this initiative, it is an effort to ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right, overcoming barriers created by mobility issues or age challenges.


The administration planned and carried out this home voting process by meeting the concerned voters and their families as per their convenience and time. Zonal Officer Dinesh Sawant, Polling Officer Subhash Dubey, Assistant Polling Officer Anand Kolekar along with Girish Khanwilkar and Ketan Gujar personally went to the respective voters' homes and conducted the polling process successfully.
