The incident of a clash between the workers of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Jitendra Awhad is drawing strong reactions from political circles. MNS chief Raj Thackeray has also reacted to this by posting on X.

Raj Thackeray said…

“Yesterday, I saw footage of a violent clash between the workers of the ruling party MLAs and the opposition MLAs in the Vidhan Bhavan area. Seeing this footage really made me wonder, what has become of our Maharashtra?

"Power should be a means, not the end — but forgetting this, people have started inducting just about anyone into their parties. These people are then used to make filthy remarks against senior leaders from other parties, and yet, they go on preaching about political propriety. I believe by now the people of Maharashtra must have seen through this hypocrisy. I would even ask the Marathi people — ‘In whose hands have you placed Maharashtra?’"

Criticism of the Government over the Marathi Language Issue

"Where are those now who once pounced on our party and our Maharashtra Sainiks when they stood up against the insult of the Marathi language and the Marathi people? I take pride in the fact that whenever someone tries to hurt the Marathi language or its people, my Maharashtra Sainik gives them a fitting reply — and not out of personal grudges, but out of loyalty to our language and our people.

Even one of our late MLAs once gave a stern response to an arrogant legislator inside the Assembly — not out of personal hatred, but because that person had dared to belittle the Marathi language. But what about these people?

Cost of Assembly Session — Two Crores a Day

Though I don’t have the exact figures, an older estimate suggests that one day of a legislative session costs around INR 1.5 to INR 2 crore. Is this public money meant to be wasted on personal taunts and petty politics? So many issues are pending in Maharashtra. The state treasury is nearly empty, payments to contractors are delayed, districts are not receiving development funds... Even ruling party MLAs and ministers themselves are asking whether these sessions are just a formality now.

Are such shallow incidents being deliberately provoked just to feed the media and distract from real issues? If we forgive this kind of behavior today, don’t be surprised if someday in the future, even murders happen inside the Assembly.

Criticism of the Media

I appeal to the few sensible voices that still remain in the media — do not allow yourselves to be dragged into these farcical controversies. And I challenge the government as well: if you still have even a shred of moral integrity left, then take action against your own people. And if you won’t — fine. But don’t come to preach to us when my Maharashtra Sainiks deal directly with these arrogant anti-Marathi elements.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Assembly Rahul Narwekar has stated that instructions have been given to examine CCTV footage of the scuffle in the legislature premises, and strict action will be taken against those involved once the report is received.
