In next few months, 13 new passport centres will be inaugurated out of which three passport centres will come up in Mumbai and two in Panvel, informed Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Secretary, External affairs minister.

With the introduction of ‘Passport at your doorstep’, external affairs ministry wants every citizen to get their passport at their doorstep. For the same, with the help of the post department, the ministry planned to build 251 passport centres across India in 2017. Until now, seven in Maharashtra and 173 passport service centres have come up and in the next one and half months, 13 passport service centres will come up in Maharashtra and 251 across the nation, said Mulay.

Upcoming new passport service centres

Sindhudurga, Latur, Ahmednagar, Pandharpur, Satara, Beed, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South-Central, Navi Mumbai, Dombivali, Panvel, Nanded, Jalgaon.

Seven centres in the state, in the last year, as per the nationwide programme beginning January 2017, by the end of April 2018, a total of 251 passport service centres will be opened in two phases. As part of this programme, new passport service centres have been started in Wardha, Jalna, Aurangabad, Sangli, Kolhapur, Ghatkopar-Vikhroli, Pimpri-Chinchwad till now.

Last year, seven passport service centres have come up at Wardha, Jalna, Aurangabad, Sangli, Kolhapur, Ghatkopar-Vikhroli, Pimpri Chinchwad.
