On Wednesday, January 5, from the 1,827 onboard the Cordelia cruise, 139 more passengers tested positive for COVID-19, reports stated. While the cruise had 66 coronavirus positive patients onboard when it had reached Mumbai from Goa on Tuesday, January 4, evening.

With these updates in numbers, 205 passengers from the ship tested positive for the virus. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had shifted 41 patients to the Richardson Cruddas COVID-19 facility as well as private hotels. The rest were onboard till late Wednesday. According to accounts, the BMC did not permit any passengers other than those who were taken to quarantine facilities to disembark. 

Narratives have quoted Shivdas Gurav, Assistant Commissioner of BMC's A ward elaborating on how earlier the cruise had 66 positive patients in Goa of whom six alighted. Adding that when tests were conducted in Mumbai, 139 more were found to be infected. 

On Tuesday evening, the civic body undertook RT-PCR tests on the 1,827 passengers by means of two private labs and the tests were on till 5 am on Wednesday. One lab tested 995 of whom 123 were positive. The other lab tested 832 of whom 16 tested positive on Wednesday. 

Those who have tested negative will have to undergo compulsory seven-day home quarantine. Gurav remarked that at 9 pm on Wednesday, 100 were permitted to go home.
