If autorickshaw and taxi licence holders want to complain against misbehaviour, refusal to pay fare, charging more than the prescribed rate, they can complain on WhatsApp number. For this, the number 9152240303 and e-mail ID mh03autotaxicomplaint@gmail.com has been provided by the Regional Transport Officer (East). Till now 1650 complaints have been received against auto rickshaw and taxi licence holders and licences of 654 licence holders have been suspended. 


1650 complaints have been received on WhatsApp and e-mail ID from 11 July 2023 to 31 January 2024. There are 717 complaints related to the concerned office. Of these, 604 complaints are related to auto rickshaws and 113 complaints are related to taxi services. Among the complaints, 540 complaints were found of refusal to pay fare without valid reason, 52 complaints of charging fare more than the metre and 125 complaints of misbehaviour with passengers.


Similarly, show cause notices have been issued to 717 licence holders. The licences of a total of 654 licensees found guilty have been suspended. Of these, 503 licensees have had their licence suspended for 15 days for refusing to pay fare without valid reasons. In this action, a compromise fee of INR 1 lakh 45 thousand 500 has been collected from 58 vehicle owners. Apart from this, licences of 105 licence holders have been suspended for 10 days for misbehaving with passengers, licences of 46 licence holders have been suspended for charging more fare than due as per metre. In all these cases, a settlement fee of INR 2 lakh 4 thousand has been collected in a total of 82 cases.


Also, in relation to 31 complaints, the complainants have been informed that wrong complaints have been registered. Also, currently 572 vehicles whose licence has been suspended are recorded as 'not to be transacted' on the Vahan 4.0 system. Regarding the details of the action, the complainants have been informed through these means on WhatsApp and e-mail ID.

Passengers should be assured that complaints made by travelling citizens to the concerned office are being taken seriously by the office. This office is appealing that the licensees should provide good service to the citizens and not misbehave with the citizens. Filing a false complaint is a punishable offence under sections 192, 193, 199 and 200 of the Indian Penal Code. Citizens are responding well to the Passenger Grievance Help Desk started by this office.
