The mobile search operation (Mission Mobile Hunt) launched by the Railway Police to recover mobile phones stolen from railway premises has been successful. In the first phase, a special police team has recovered 648 mobile phones worth INR 1.11 crore. These mobile phones are being returned to their original owners.
Millions of commuters travel daily on suburban local trains on Mumbai's Central, Western and Harbour lines. Taking advantage of the increasing crowd on trains, incidents of mobile phone theft are increasing. Railway Police Commissioner Rakesh Kalasagar had launched a mobile search campaign (Mission Mobile Hunt) to recover these stolen phones.

A total of 8 teams were formed, 5 from the police station and 3 from the Railway Crime Branch, under the guidance of the Divisional Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the Railways. It included 3 police officers and 39 police personnel. The campaign was launched in the month of June.
