Update released by the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) states that the number of coronavirus cases in the area has increased to 946. Data released as of June 8, 2020, shows that 46 new cases were reported on Monday along with four cases who died due to the viral infection. The total count of the deceased has reached 59.

Keeping the severity of coronavirus outbreak in mind, MBMC ordered a complete lockdown in this area until May 31, 2020. However, after state government's orders, restrictions were lifted as a part of Mission Begin Again, where unlike earlier non-essential shops have also been granted permission to resume services by following unlock 1.0 guidelines.

Ever since the coronavirus outbreak began in Mumbai, the state of Maharashtra has been the worst affected. Uddhav Thackeray-led government has been under pressure to ensure the safety of the citizens and the centre has been asking the government to curb the virus, by focusing on clusters. State capital Mumbai has been a hotspot for coronavirus and it is the most affected city across India, where the number of cases has seen an exponential increase over the last few months. Back in March and April, the majority of cases were reported from several slums in Mumbai, where areas like Worli and Dharavi were the most affected.

Data released by the state health ministry, as of June 8, 2020, shows that the number of cases in Maharashtra has increased to 88,528 and Mumbai has more than 50,000 coronavirus cases. Other areas like Thane, Pune, Aurangabad and Navi Mumbai have also seen the effect of coronavirus outbreak.
