The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC)’s health department has decided to conduct a door-to-door survey for tuberculosis (TB) patients.

This comes in order to prevent the spread of TB across the city and trace the suspected patients. The survey will be conducted till December 6.

For this, the public health department of the UMC has formed multiple teams. Officials further said that 85 teams will be working on this survey. They will mostly conduct this in slum areas.

The team will be headed by Dr. Ratnamala Nandgaye, a medical officer from the health department at UMC.

He further stated that the civic body will try to trace people with suspected symptoms from a population of 1,72,000 within these areas.

In this process, officials will conduct sputum tests and X-ray tests for suspected patients in the Central hospital and primary health care center of UMC.

Explaining about the symptoms, public health department official shared coughing for more than 14 days, fever for more than two weeks, significant weight loss, bleeding from the sputum, chest pain, and swelling in the neck are symptoms of TB. If found, the person should get tested.
