On Friday, 8-months-old baby succumbed to smoke inhalation injuries, taking the death toll in the Marol ESIC Hospital fire to 11. At least eight people continue to battle for life in different hospitals, while over 100 are recovering from smoke inhalation injuries.
On Thursday morning, another victim named Dattu Kisam Narwade (65) died. In connection to the fire incident, the police arrested two engineers – Nilesh Mehta and Nilesh Kamble. The two engineers arrested for negligence were produced before the Andheri court, which remanded them in judicial custody till January 13. The duo has applied for bail. The police have also questioned the hospital management.
