On July 25, the Rapid antigen test (RAT) will be conducted for the people at IC colony, on the Maryland grounds.

In the western suburbs of Mumbai, the cases of coronavirus have witnessed a spike in recent times. In view of the situation, the civic body has decided to conduct the Rapid antigen testing, especially in the Borivali and the Dahisar area. A rapid antigen test is a rapid diagnostic test suitable for point-of-care testing that directly detects the presence or absence of an antigen. This distinguishes it from other medical tests that detect antibodies or nucleic acid. The testing will be conducted from 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon. All shopkeepers of the area will be subjected to the RAT.

From July 14 to July 21, the doubling rate in Borivali has been 32 days whereas in Kandivali it has been 35 days. As per data shared by the BMC, the total number of patients in Borivali on July 21 was 4,674, while the number of patients in Kandivali was 4,014.

The BMC had earlier initiated mass screening and fever clinics to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Moreover, smart helmet screening was introduced through which more people can be examined in a short period of time. With this initiative maintaining social distancing protocols has also been made easier. This new-age high-tech 'smart helmet' visor has thermo-scan sensors which are touted to provide information about the temperature of passengers within a 7-metre radius.

Meanwhile, on Friday, July 24, Maharashtra clocked 9,615 fresh cases of the coronavirus, propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 3,57,117. At the moment, there are 1,43,714 active cases in the state. With 5,714 COVID-19 patients getting discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 1,99,967.
