“The lockdown has hit the country's economy hard. As a result, there has been a sharp decline in GDP,” Author Chetan Bhagat recently said while adding that the country will suffer more if citizens continue to ignore the present economic situation.
Referring to the row over Sushant Singh Rajput death case and Kangana Ranaut, Bhagat blamed youth of the country of ignoring these issues and said that they were involved in “solving Bollywood cases”.
“The country is currently suffering a huge economic crisis. However, the youth of the country is ignoring this. if they continue to ignore the country's economy, they will have to bear the brunt of it in the future,” he said.
Bhagat, also a renowned columnist, said that if people don’t care about the economy, why should politicians care? He said that politicians won’t care about the economy unless people don’t demand the government to fix issues.
The author further pointed out that the commoners will become poorer in India if the economic situation is not fixed. He said that the nationwide lockdown has caused huge damage to the country’s economy which has led to huge job loss.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in India has fallen to approximately ‘minus’ (-) 24 per cent which is the worst contraction across the globe. Meanwhile, the central government has refused to provide the GST returns to states across the country.
