This decision was taken after the State Government took a stand to ban all plastic for the betterment of the environment. The implementation of the same has begun in the government offices and all municipal offices.

However, it has been noted by the officials that even after the strict decision and guidelines, plastic water bottles are being used across municipal offices, which has irked the commissioner.

A circular was hence issued by him with the statement above mentioned regarding the disposal of plastic including the plastic bottles within the given time frame. Further, as an alternative, Mehta has also issued instructions for inspection of the water purification system and water dispenser machines, to ensure that water shall be provided in a paper glass henceforth for all the meetings held by the department.
