According to latest development, it has come to light that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Elections (BMC) 2022 are likely to get delayed.
This comes with the State Election Commission (SEC) laying out the schedule for the run-up to the BMC polls and stating that final list of ward boundaries will be published on March 2.
Meanwhile, days after the SEC formally accepted the draft submitted by the civic body on increase in the number of wards from 227 to 236 for the upcoming elections, the BMC has issued programme for the publication of draft ward boundaries.

As per reports, out of the total 236 wards, 15 wards are reserved for ST and 2 wards for SC, while the remaining 219 wards have been kept in the general category.
On the other hand, hearing is going on in the Supreme Court to discontinue OBC reservation in the polls.

The elections will be declared after the completion of the ward formation process, said sources. According to reports, the corporation election is held every five years and was initially supposed to be held in February. However, the dates have, however, not been announced yet.
