BMC Issues "Danger" Alert For Those Residing On Slopes

On Wednesday, May 25, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a "danger" alert for those living on slopes, reports mentioned.

Based on accounts, the BMC stated that in the areas of S Ward, slum dwellers residing on slopes such as Suryanagar, Powai's Indiranagar, Gautam Nagar, Paspoli, Jaybhim Nagar, Gautam Nagar, Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar 1 & 2 at Bhandup West, Nardas Nagar, Gaondevi Hill, Gavdevi Marg, Tembhipada, Rawate Compound, Khindipada, Ramnagar, Hanuman Nagar, Ashok Hill, Navjivan Society, Tanaji Wadi, Dargah Road have been warned of a possible house collapse when there are days of heavy rainfall.

According to narratives, the residents have been asked to move to a safer place by themselves. The civic body's note reportedly elaborated on how if in case of any mishap or loss of either life or property owing to a natural calamity, the BMC will not be responsible. 

On the other hand, the Storm Water Drains online portal of the BMC, gives users an insight into the progress of the pre-monsoon activities. The data on Thursday, May 26 suggests that 94.20 per cent of the overall total pre-monsoon work has been achieved. Likewise, 81.99 per cent of the city has been completed. 

Similarly, in the eastern suburbs and western suburbs, 90.73 per cent and 88.14 per cent per-monsoon work has been attained. The data claims that while 100 per cent of minor pre-monsoon works have been finished, 93.97 per cent of the Mithi River pre-monsoon work has been achieved.
