According to reports, a day earlier, a group of four students including a minor are feared to have drowned at the Juhu beach. Of which, one was reported to have survived with the assistance of a lifeguard, however, three others got sucked by a strong current of waves.

Official stated that the search operation for the three youngsters-- two brothers and their friend-- that started at 3 pm on Tuesday had to be discontinued at 7.30 pm due to darkness, however, it resumed on Wednesday early morning.

Based on accounts, the mishap transpired between 2.30 pm and 3 pm. The police added that all the four friends were from Chembur's Vashi Naka from Aman Ashiyana society. Their names are reported to be Aman Singh, Kaustubh Gupta, Pratham Gupta and Abhishek Sharma who were 21, 18, 16 and 18 respectively. Sharma, however, managed to swim ashore when the tide started to rise and was saved.

After being unable to spot his friends, Sharma alerted the lifeguards who in turn alerted the Disaster Management Cell (DMC) of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The Navy, which was called in by DMC, deployed a Chetak helicopter along with their divers for the search operation.

It has been reported that the four entered the Juhu beach from a lane which is almost 500 meters away from the beach near J W Marriott and Tulip Hotel in Santacruz (West) on the Juhu Tara Road.

Authorities include the likes of the Indian Coast Guard and fire brigade attempted to search for them with divers and a helicopter.
