As there are nine suspected cases of coronavirus in Mumbai, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray have asked people to not panic as the State Government is trying their best to get the situation under control. He further said he hopes that the coronavirus epidemic gets burnt in the Holi fire. 

"When there was an outbreak of swine flu, the Dahi handi celebrations were cancelled. I pray that the coronavirus epidemic gets burnt in the Holi fire. I want to tell people that the next eight days are crucial and we have to remain cautious"

Till today, 167 passengers have been quarantined out of which 9 have been kept in isolation ward. He appealed to people to limit their holi celebration and avoid going to crowded places. He said, "I want to tell people that the next eight days are crucial and we have to remain cautious."

As a preventive measure, the BMC hospitals are all geared up. They have kept 100 beds ready in isolation wards across Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, KB Bhabha Hospital in Bandra, KB Bhabha Municipal Hospital in Kurla and Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care in Jogeshwari. Additionally, 24 health teams consisting of six members will be deployed at every ward to monitor patients who may show symptoms of coronavirus. Two teams will be deployed at the international airport to monitor the situation around the clock.

Since January 2020, thousands of people have been screened at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). Passengers, especially from China, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam, Italy, Iran and Malaysia are being scanned.
