Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schoolchildren are slated to draw the lottery for proclaiming the ward reservations on May 31, reports stated. According to accounts, the civic body will commence the draw with a presentation on how the reserved wards in Mumbai have been selected.
In accordance with the schedule released by the BMC, the draw for the reservation will be held on Tuesday, May 31. While the draft reservation will be published on June 1, the time frame for sending suggestions and objections will be from June 1 to 6.

Following the delimitation activities, the civic body has 236 wards in the BMC elections in 2022. Of these, 50 per cent are reserved for women. From the 236 wards, 118 will be reserved for women. On the other hand,109 will be reserved for women in the general category, eight for SC candidates and one for an ST candidate.
According to accounts, the BMC will be inviting objections after this. This entire exercise is anticipated to be finished by June 15. Presently, the civic body is pondering the January 2022 revised voters' list for the BMC elections, which many claim will be conducted in September or after.
It has been reported that the January 2022 list has 99 lakh voters. The OBC reservation has been a bone of contention in the Maharashtra local body polls. The state government has formed a committee to collect empirical data for the Other Backward Classes. Once the committee submits its report, the Maharashtra government is anticipated to approach the Supreme Court.
