Maharashtra is currently observing lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, however, the government has offered several relaxations under the ‘Mission Begin Again’ initiative. The next phase of 'unlock' will begin on September 1, 2020, and several businesses are expecting a nod from the government.
As per a recent update, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray met several gym owners and related associations with regards to resuming the services. CMO Maharashtra took to Twitter to share the news with a message that stated that after the discussion with the officials, the government is hopeful about starting the gyms again in Mumbai. However, gym owners have to ensure safety and no spread of coronavirus cases due to any negligence. Guidelines will be issued with regards to the same.

Meanwhile, a few days back it was reported that the Mumbai local train services might resume for the public from September 1, 2020, post Ganeshotsav. Announcement regarding the same is awaited, however, reports state that the officials are planning to implement a QR-code based entry at stations in Mumbai. This move will ensure a coordinated entry and avoid crowding, where people will have to follow social distancing. The model is based on the current method used at Metro Stations.
For now, the plan will be implemented on a pilot-project basis, at Mumbai’s Churchgate and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) stations. A report will be prepared regarding the same, and the necessary decision will be taken then.
As of August 28, 2020, Maharashtra has a total of 7,47,995 cases out of which three divisions from the state have more than 1 lakh cases. Pune division has the highest number of coronavirus cases, followed by Mumbai and Thane. So far, 23,775 deaths have been reported in the state, and 5,43,170 patients have recovered from coronavirus infection.
