Data released by the Maharashtra Health Ministry reveals that the number of coronavirus cases in the state has crossed the one lakh mark. As of June 12, 2020, 3,493 cases were reported in the state, taking the total tally to 1,01,141 positive cases. With 127 new deaths, the total death toll has reached 3,717.

Maharashtra is the worst affected state across India and according to the MEDD report released by the government, the state has a mortality rate of 3.68 per cent. On the other hand, the number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai increased to 55,451, and this makes it the most affected city in India.
On June 11, 2020, the coronavirus tally in India surpassed the number of cases in the UK, taking the fourth position in the list of countries most affected with coronavirus (COVID-19).
Uddhav Thackeray-led government has been taking necessary steps and making arrangements to ensure that the spread of coronavirus is contained in the state. Following the directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, some cities in the state are currently under the lockdown until June 30. However, CM Uddhav Thackeray announced Mission Begin Again, thereby giving permission to resume some activities in the state. He also requested the citizens to follow the norms and ensure social distancing.
