Three employees from the Shiv Sena Bhavan were tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday. This comes days after the Sena Bhavan situated in Mumbai’s Dadar West was sealed after a Shiv Sainik tested COVID-19 positive.

Now, the reports suggest that another three Shiv Sainiks have been tested positive for the coronavirus and are being treated in a hospital. The Sena Bhavan was shut down for a few days from June 22 (Monday).

The party worker who tested positive earlier was a regular visitor at the Sena headquarter in Dadar. The decision to close down the party headquarter was taken as part of the precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus as Shiv Sena officer-bearers and leaders frequently visit the central office of the party.

Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with senior Sena leaders including Subhash Desai, Eknath Shinde and Aaditya Thackeray was present at the Sena Bhavan on the occasion of party’s 54th foundation day.

The celebration was kept low-key given the coronavirus outbreak in Mumbai. Thackeray had addressed the party workers and leaders via video conferencing while some were present at the venue.

However, it has been learnt that the three workers at Sena Bhavan who have been tested COVID-19 positive were present during the foundation day celebration at Sena Bhavan.

In earlier months, three cops deployed outside Matoshree - the residence of Uddhav Thackeray - were tested positive for the coronavirus. Moreover, a tea vendor was also tested positive near Thackeray’s residence.

Maharashtra has been the worst-hit state in India due to the coronavirus outbreak. As of June 28, the number of cases in the state has risen to 1,64,626 and the death toll has reached 7,429. In Mumbai alone, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased 7,5539 while the death toll in the financial capital has touched 4,371.
