Coronavirus outbreak across the world has created a situation of panic amongst the public. The state government is taking necessary measures to control the spread, and the number of cases in Maharashtra has seen an increase in the last 24 hours.

Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital is also taking precautionary measures for Coronavirus outbreak.

A 65-year old patient was brought to the hospital to get admitted, and upon knowing that he is recently travelled from Dubai he was shifted to Kasturba hospital, as directed. Source have shared that at the time of admitting the patient had not informed that he was from Dubai. 

Update: At the time of filing the story the test results for this person were awaited. On Friday night (March 13), it was confirmed that the tests for this 65-year old man have come positive. 


Following this Hinduja hospital (and Medical Research Centre) told issued a statement which reads, "In spite of following all precautionary measures as per government guidelines, one of the admitted patients in the hospital, has tested positive for COVID-19 last night (Thursday night). In view of this, the hospital has been following the advice of the concerned team at MCGM and basis their advice, all protocols were activated. The hospital is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its medical, non- medical staff and patients as per government guidelines".

To take necessary measures, around 55 to 80 members of the staff, including a senior doctor, from Hinduja Hospital have been asked to undergo necessary tests and even placed in quarantined. Some patients in the hospital have also been kept under isolation and steps are being taken to avoid chaos at the hospital. The reports of these staff members are awaited. It is said that two nurses that were attending to the patient have been placed under quarantine. 

So far, 14 cases have been confirmed in Maharashtra out of which three are from Mumbai and one from Thane. Remaining cases have been registered Pune and Nagpur. 

CM Uddhav Thackeray, in a recently held press meet, informed that all the gyms, theatres, and swimming pools have to be shut in MumbaiPuneNavi MumbaiThane and Nagpur until further notice. Malls and restaurants will be open, but the public has been advised to avoid crowding.
