According to sources, the tribal population living in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) area of Borivali have started complaining due to the inadequate supply of electricity and water there.

Moreover, they have stated that even though they have been living in the forests of SGNP for the last several years there is no adequate supply of water or electricity due to which it has become increasingly difficult for them to sustain themselves. In addition, the tribal population staged a dharna in view of the situation.

The protest was organized by Birsa Munda Tribal Workers Organization. The tribal workers' organization demands that electricity and water be provided to the tribals living in SGNP. At the same time, they have also asked for employment. Local MP Gopal Shetty also met the tribals and consoled them for their solution. In a statement, Shetty added, "A proposal to set up a colony for the tribals is pending with the government and the government will consider it as soon as possible."

With the restrictions regards to COVID-19 gradually beginning to ease out in the city, one-day city tours, food and nature trails at SGNP and Aarey Milk Colony in the western suburbs, football and cricket tournaments in long-forgotten public parks and gardens have become more popular.

According to the recent update, the park will be open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm, but attractions will not be operational for the public. Visitors will only be able to park their vehicles outside the premises, and no private vehicles will be allowed inside. One can make the use of BEST buses to commute inside the park. Furthermore, visitors will have to wear masks and following the rules at all times.
