According to the latest reports, the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday, June 8, issued new COVID-19 rules for airports and aircraft. With these norms, masks have now been made compulsory throughout the journey. 

This order is reportedly in line with the Delhi High Court order. Based on accounts, the regulations allow the removal of masks in exceptional circumstances. 

Based on accounts, violators could be treated as "unruly passengers" and those who do not adhere to the norms could be de-boarded before departure. Moreover, they could also be put on the "no-fly list".

It has been reported that CISF personnel will be in charge of enforcing the masks. These developments come in the midst of rising COVID-19 cases in India

In accordance with the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, June 8, daily COVID-19 numbers in India were over 5,000 after 93 days. This took the aggregate figures of coronavirus numbers to 4,31,90,282, while the active cases rose to 28,857.

In a span of 24 hours, an increase of 1,881 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload. In the same duration, a total of 5,233 infections were registered. Likewise, the death numbers rose to 5,24,715 with seven new fatalities.

The ministry reportedly added that the active cases entail 0.07 per cent of the total infections. On the other hand, the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.72 per cent.
