Dr Shivraj Pataria, the main accused in the fake vaccination scam who is also the owner of Shivam Hospital, based in Charkop, tested positive for COVID-19. He has since been admitted, to GT Hospital. He, along with his team have been accused of providing fake vaccinations to over 3,000 people in Mumbai and Thane.

He ran the hospital with his wife, Nita, who has also been accused. Along with them, the other accused include Mahendra Singh, Dr Manish Tripathi, Rajesh Pandey, Rahul Dube, Shrikant Mane, Seema Ahuja, Anurag Tripathi, Sanjay Gupta, Chandan Singh, Gudiya Yadav, Karim Ali and Nitin Mode. Nita and these 12 have, on the other hand, tested negative. All the 14 accused on July 15 were detained, in police custody.

According to certain reports, a police source has mentioned that the accused were taken for a medical check-up after being produced in court on July 15. The main accused reported having cough, fever and body pain, and on July 17 he tested positive for COVID-19. However, his condition is stable and the oxygen level is perfect, mentioned the source.

Additionally, Jaina Sanghavi a 31-year-old resident of the Hiranandani Heritage society in Kandivli West who was a victim of the scam has also tested positive for COVID-19 and is admitted to Oscar Hospital.

It is reported that at least 390 residents of the society were victims of the fake vaccination scam.
