Ice creams are easily consumed during summer in order to beat the heat but a recent raid by FDA revealed the ice creams are poisonous. A few months ago, the usage of poisonous ice was discovered and the Food Department raided several ice cream factories in Mumbai and recovered adulterated items used to make ice cream. According to the FDA, cheap goods were being used in the ice cream, and this ice cream was being made in a very unhygienic way, which could seriously leave people ill.

On May 19, the FDA officials received secret information about adulterated ice cream in Charkopi area of Kandivli and so they raided an ice-cream factory at RCK 23, plot no. 82. 

According to an FDA official, Shailesh Adhav, the ice creams were being prepared in the huge dunking ice cream factory, where some utensils and equipment used to make ice cream-free was very bad, as well sd the water was also unclean. The color used for flavoring the ice cream was also found to be old. He added that people consuming can succumb to serious illness.

According to the officials, there were frequent complaints about a special type of kulfi and ice cream being sold at the shops due to which people were getting sick. On Tuesday, a dozen officers and employees of FDA raided a warehouse in Dahisar and sealed it immediately. The team of officials retrieved a large quantity of fake ‘mawa’ from the warehouse.
