Fuel price hike in Mumbai, Thane burning a hole in common man's pocket

On May 29, Mumbai became the first metro in the country where petrol was being sold for more than INR 100 per litre. Moreover, it has come to light that the highest rate of petrol and diesel is being sold in Parbhani and Amravati, across Maharashtra.

As fuel rates are continuously rising across the nation, the prices of petrol and diesel have touched a new high after another hike today, October 27.

After a two-day pause, the petrol rates have seen a surge by 34 paise, while diesel rose by 37 paise in the financial hub of India. Moreover, on May 29, Mumbai became the first metro in the country where petrol was being sold for more than INR 100 per litre.

With this, petrol price in Mumbai is inching close to INR 114 a litre while diesel price is heading towards INR 105-mark.

On Wednesday, October 27, the price of petrol in Mumbai, after the fresh hikes, was INR 113.80 per litre while diesel was retailing at INR 104.75.

Meanwhile, the price of petrol in neighbouring Thane and Navi Mumbai has reached INR 113.93 per litre and diesel INR 104.88 per litre.

Moreover, it has come to light that the highest rate of petrol and diesel is being sold in Parbhani and Amravati respectively, across Maharashtra.

Petrol in Parbhani is being sold at INR 116.75 per litre whereas, the diesel rate in Amravati breached the INR 106-mark. The rate of diesel in Amravati is INR 106.29, however with another hike, the diesel can cost is bound to go beyond INR 106 a litre.

In addition, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on Monday, October 25, hiked fares for all types of bus services amid a continues hike in the fuel rates.
