Gas Cylinder Blast At BDD Chawl: Four-Month-Old Succumbs To Injuries

In the aftermath of the incident, certain reports claimed that there was a delay in treating the injured. Taking cognizance of this, the BMC is believed to have ordered an inquiry into the same.

A four-month-old who was admitted to the Kasturba Hospital has reportedly succumbed to the burn injuries he received in a gas cylinder blast. On Tuesday, November 30, a gas cylinder exploded at nearly 7.10 am at Worli’s BDD Chawl.

In the gas cylinder blast at BDD Chawl 3, Kamgar Vasahat on Ganpatrao Jadhav Marg, Worli, four individuals including the said infant sustained injuries. According to reports, on Tuesday night, Mangesh Puri the four-year-old succumbed. The condition of the other injured, Anand Puri a 27-year-old is critical.

On the other hand, the condition of Vidya Puri and Vishnu Puri who are 25 and 5 years old, respectively is claimed to be stable.

In the aftermath of the incident, certain reports claimed that there was a delay in treating the injured. Taking cognizance of this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is believed to have ordered an inquiry into the same.

Based on accounts, Prabhakar Shinde, BJP group leader in BMC wrote a letter to Municipal Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal claiming that the child died due to the carelessness of the doctors at Nair Hospital.

Shinde alleged that whilst the child was admitted to Nair Hospital earlier, due to the negligence in his treatment, he was shifted to Kasturba Hospital.

According to accounts, BJP members from the civic health committee have put in their resignation to condemn the death of the four-month child.
