Gas Cylinder Blast At BDD Chawl: Another Injured Succumbs To Burns

Another individual injured in the gas cylinder blast that transpired at Worli BDD Chawl succumbed to his injuries at the BMC run, Nair Hospital. A four-month-old baby who was also injured in the mishap lost his life at the hospital earlier.

On Saturday, December 4, at nearly 9.45 am, another individual injured in the gas cylinder blast that transpired at Worli's BDD Chawl, succumbed to his injuries at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) run, Nair Hospital, stated reports.

On late Tuesday, a four-month-old baby who was also injured in the mishap lost his life at the hospital. According to reports, officials from the BMC’s Disaster Management Cell mentioned that the deceased, Anand Puri who was 27 years old was critical.

Four people on early Tuesday that included the infant named Mangesh Puri sustained injuries in the gas cylinder blast at Worli’s BDD Chawl Number 3. They were then taken to the Nair Hospital.

However, the infant lost this life, late at night. After this, reports claimed that videos started doing the rounds on social media wherein one could allegedly see that whilst the hurt asked for assistance, none of the hospital staff offered them help.

Additional Municipal Commissioner, Suresh Kakani (Health), on Friday, December 3, apprised the BMC Standing Committee that a doctor, as well as an MBBS student and a nurse, have been suspended for their alleged negligence. Moreover, it has been reported that a committee has been constituted to investigate the matter.

The other two injured, namely Vidya Puri who is 25 years old, Vishnu Puri who is 5 years old have attained 60 per cent and 20 per cent burns, consequently, stated the civic authority. It added that the injured have been shifted to Kasturba Hospital for treatment.
