As per reports, the northern part of Mumbai has been listed as the most problematic with regards to wearing face masks, as per data from the Mumbai’s civic body BMC and Mumbai Police.

The northern region is stretched from Goregaon to Dahisar where the civic wards P North, P South, R Central, R North and R South fall.  The police have booked 5,741 people for not face wearing masks while the civic body has fined 17,037 people. Of these, 2,279 police cases are in the North Region while 1,629 people were fined in the R South ward. Till September 30, the civic body has collected ₹58,32,300 in fines.

Moreover, the ward with the second most problematic numbers is the C Ward with 1,305 cases with ₹5,87,300 collected in fines. The ward comprises of areas like Pydhonie, Marine Lines, Chira Bazar, Kalbadevi and Bhuleshwar.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, the state has recorded 14,348 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 14,30,861, as per the state health department. However, the number of recovered patients rose by 16,835, taking the tally of recovered cases to 11,34,555. The recovery rate in the state has touched 79.3 per cent, as against the national average of 83.84 per cent.

On the other hand, the Maharashtra government had earlier authorized coronavirus-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for restaurants that are set to re-open from October 5 with 50 per cent occupancy, as part of 'Mission Begin Again' initiative.
