Height of the road near Hindmata flyover increased

Work between Hindmata flyover and Parel TT flyover on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road was recently completed and inaugurated by Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray.

Maharashtra State Cabinet Minister, Aaditya Thackeray, recently expressed his confidence with regards to increasing the height of the road between Hindmata Flyover and Parel TT Flyover on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. As per reports, this is expected to help solve the problem of flooding in low lying areas during the monsoon.

He made the statement regarding the same at the inauguration event where the work done by the department was discussed. The event was held on Friday, June 25, 2021, where the team said that the height of the road has been increased by 1.2 meters from the present level, and this could benefit the area by avoiding water logging. 

Besides Aaditya Thackeray, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner P. Velarasu, Deputy Commissioner Vijay Balamwar etc. were also present on the occasion.

Every day, due to heavy rains fall, some parts of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road which are in the low lying areas of Hindmata area face traffic congestion as the water gets collected. Considering this poor experience, experts suggesting increasing the height of the road  from the present level, which was approved. The team believes that this move will help in maintaining smooth traffic flow even in case of floods

Inspection of work regarding the mini pumping station at Gandhi Market was also inspected by Aaditya Thackeray. Officials were directed to complete the work of this pumping station as soon as possible as it would help in solving several issues during the monsoon this year.

On the other hand, the civic body has also informed the citizens to use water carefully, as Only 15.54 per cent water supply is left as per experts. According to sources, the water in the lakes is enough to last for 45 days, however, if the city continues to receive less rainfall, Mumbaikars may experience scarcity of water this year.
