Mumbai Rains, over the last few hours, has brought the city to a halt. Local trains have stopped, trees have fallen and many parts of the city are affected by water logging. Here are the LIVE updates:

  August 30, 2017

  •   8:15 pm - 5 dead and 7 are missing according to Mumbai Police

  •   7:50 pm -


  •   6:34 pm - CSMT-Panvel Harbour local services have resumed

  •   6:20 pm - 331.4 mm rainfall recorded in Mumbai. It was 944 mm in 2005

  •   5:15 pm - BMC will start working on the roads which were damaged yesterday: BMC Commissioner, Ajoy Mehta 

  •   4:05 pm - A 30-year-old man was found unconscious in his car in Sion and was declared dead at Sion Hospital 

 •  3:25  pm - According to some eye-witnesses, Dr. Amarapurkar fell into a manhole and the police recovered his umbrella from near it.

 •  12:35 pm - Traffic moving slowly at the Sion flyover (northbound) due to road repair work 

 •  12:00 pm - Harbour Line comes to a standstill after a tree falls between CSMT and Kurla 

 •  11:20 am- Gastroenterologist, Dr Deepak Amrapurkar, 59, missing since Tuesday evening from Lower            Parel

 •   11:00 am Trains Update 
1) Versova - Ghatkopar Metro running smoothly
2) Western Railway running slowly without a barrier
3) Central Railway - Thane to Kalyan, Thane to Kura and Kurla to Dombivali

  • 10.20am- GSB King Circle Ganapati's immersion will start at 12 pm today.

  • 10.05am- Mumbai Airport operations back to normal.
  • 9.39am-#Navy community kitchens are providing food at Churchgate, Byculla, Parel, CST, Worli, Tardeo, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Mankhurd, Chembur, Malad and Ghatkopar this morning. 
  • 9.30am- First Harbour local departed from CSMT to Panvel at 9.03am.
  • 9.27 am- Rain started again in Ghatkopar.
  • 9.21am- Sensex opens on a positive note, SENSEX at 31,593.40 and Nifty 9,867.95.
  • 9.13 am- According to the Meteorological Department, there will be no rain in the city for the next few hours.
  • 9.07am- All services on Central Railway resumed except between Titwala and Kasara
  • 9.00am- Private bus operators hike fare for Thane and Nashik,  Dadar to Thane 400 INR and Dadar to Nashik 1000 INR.
  • 8.54am- Water logging in many parts of Mulund
  • 8.47am-Mumbai dabbawalas won't be delivering your dabba today
  • 8.33am- Central rail services resumed between Kurla - Dombivali
  • 8.32am- Second local train to Kalyan departed from CSMT 
  • 8.31am- Traffic between Ghatkopar and Mulund returning back to normal
  • 7:53am - Train services resume between Kurla and Dombivli
  • 7:51am -Rains resume in Dombivli and Thane. Stay safe!

  • Local on harbour line functional only beyond Vashi, not between CSMT and Vashi. 
  • Western railway trains are on time. No issues reported confirms railway PRO
  • Central_Railway trains run only beyond Thane. No trains between CSMT - Thane confirms PRO
  • 12:41am - BSE to remain open tomorrow.

  • 12:15am - 2 dead in a landslide in Vikhroli

  • 7:27pm - Tube boats deployed for rescue operations in Dadar.

  • 7:14pm - Trains from Mumbai to Pune, Nashik & Panvel stopped. Incoming trains halted too!

  • 7:03pm - IMD issues heavy rainfall warning over next few days.
