The demand for opening shops in Mira Bhayandar from 9 am to 10 pm has been increasing for a while now amidst the rise in cases of coronavirus.

As Mumbai experiences a surge in the cases of coronavirus, Mira-Bhayandar has been reporting 100 to 200 cases every day.

Mira-Bhayandar, which is a city and a municipal corporation in the Thane district of Maharashtra has been reporting 5 to 6 deaths every day as well. However, in spite of the worrying scenario, the demand for shops to be open till 10:00 pm has intensified with the aim of boosting employment in order to get the economy back on track. The demand for opening shops in Mira Bhayandar from 9 am to 10 pm has been increasing for a while now. At present, shops are permitted to remain operational in the area from 9 am to 7 pm.

Earlier on Monday, BJP corporator Ravi Vyas handed over a letter to Mayor Jyotsna Hasnale regarding the same. On the other hand, MNS Mira-Bhayandar assembly speaker Sandeep Rane has demanded permission from the commissioner to open shops till 11 pm within 10 days. He further added that if the MBMC does not give permission, he will set himself on fire.

On Monday, 220 fresh cases of the coronavirus were reported in Mira Bhayandar. Also, in the last 24 hours, 7 people have lost their lives due to the disease.
