Monsoon Updates: Expect Moderate to heavy rain in Mumbai and surrounding areas

According to meteorologists, sporadic and uneven rainfall is expected to continue over Mumbai and surrounding areas, although there will not be very heavy rainfall. Till 5:30 pm on Friday, the India Meteorological Department's Colaba observatory recorded 77 mm of rain, while the Santacruz observatory recorded only 1 mm of rain. Meteorologists predict that this uneven pattern of rain will continue throughout the week.

In the 24 hours till Sunday, the Santacruz observatory recorded 16 mm rainfall at 8.30 am, while Colaba recorded 21 mm rainfall. From September 1 to 24, the Santacruz Observatory recorded 377 mm rainfall, slightly below its average monthly quota of 383 mm. In contrast, Colaba received 420 mm of rain, which is more than the September monthly average of 355 mm.

The India Meteorological Department predicted 'moderate rain' in Mumbai and its suburbs on Sunday. The sky will be cloudy on Monday and there is a possibility of moderate rain. BMC says that there is a possibility of light rain in Mumbai and surrounding areas for a few days.
