A large number of residents gathered on the 90-feet road in Dharavi after police stopped an all-party protest march. Despite restrictions, protesters assembled in significant numbers and voiced their opposition to the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) and the developer.
The demonstrators demanded that all eligible residents be provided houses with a minimum area of 500 square feet as part of the rehabilitation plan. Protesters also raised slogans such as “Adani hatao, Dharavi bachao”, highlighting growing discontent over the project.
Several political leaders, including Varsha Gaikwad and Anil Desai, extended support to the agitation and backed the residents’ demands.
Residents and activists have expressed concerns over transparency, eligibility criteria, and rehabilitation policies under the project. They have also alleged a lack of clarity regarding housing allocation and future resettlement.
