Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Yashwant Killedar on Wednesday criticised the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after waterlogging was reported in parts of Mumbai before the official onset of the monsoon.
Taking to X, Killedar said he had already warned about the risk of flooding while speaking on the BMC budget. He alleged that despite extensive inspection visits by civic authorities, claims that drains had been cleaned were proven false after water accumulated in parts of the city.
"Even before the monsoon has begun, Mumbai has started witnessing waterlogging," Killedar wrote, accusing civic authorities of failing to adequately prepare for the rainy season.
The MNS leader also targeted Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and BJP MLA Ameet Satam, claiming their assurances regarding pre-monsoon desilting and drain-cleaning works had not translated into results on the ground.
Killedar further alleged that the mayor should focus on public welfare and civic works rather than making claims about completed projects, as concerns over Mumbai's monsoon preparedness continue to grow.
