The salary of teachers and non-teaching staff in private aided primary schools in Mumbai will increase from next month. Like the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees, they will get 42 percent dearness allowance and 27 percent house rent. This salary increase will be implemented from September. Increased dearness allowance at the rate of 42 percent has been implemented for Mumbai Municipal Corporation employees from January 1, 2023. On the same lines, now the municipal administration has taken an important decision to implement dearness allowance and pay 27 percent house rent to the teachers and non-teaching staff in municipally recognised subsidised private primary schools.

The BMC has borne the cost of the fourth, fifth and sixth pay commissions given to teachers and non-teaching staff in private primary schools. For this, 50 percent is received from the state government. However, the municipal corporation has not yet received the amount of subsidy due from the fourth pay commission from the state government. 50% of the amount is required from the state government to implement the pay commission. But she didn't get it. The 7th Pay Commission will be implemented in relation to which 50 percent of the amount will be received from the state government.

Although the Seventh Pay Commission will be implemented from the month of September, the education department said that the pay hike will be given to teachers and non-teaching staff only after receiving the arrears from the state government. Meanwhile, due to the seventh pay commission, the financial burden of INR 60 to INR 70 crore will fall on the treasury of the municipal corporation.
