Although it has started raining in the city of Navi Mumbai for the past few days, it is raining more in the city than the area of Morbe Dam that supplies water to the city. As the Morbe dam was not full last year too, this year 4500 mm of rain is needed to fill the Morbe dam which supplies water to the city. Also, the municipal administration has informed that the current water reduction in the city will continue but there will be no additional water reduction, as per the media report by Loksatta.

Due to the decrease in the water level of the dam in the city of Navi Mumbai and according to the measures taken by the state government, the water reduction has been started since April 28. One day a week in the evening, water is not supplied department wise. On the other hand, although the rains have started in the city of Mumbai, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to reduce water supply by 10 percent from next Saturday as a precaution regarding water. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation will also decide whether to stop the water cut on the coming rains without cancelling the water cut immediately.

Although it is expected that there will be good rainfall in Navi Mumbai this monsoon season, there has been less rainfall in the Morbe Dam area than the rainfall in Navi Mumbai.

Navi Mumbai city has so far received 461.97 mm of rain and Morbe Dam area has received 357.80 mm of rain. Therefore, more rain is falling in the city and less in the dam. Even though the rains have started recently, due to the late onset of the rains, the municipal administration is worried whether the dam will be filled this year like last year, and from now on, decisions are being made carefully about water saving and water supply.

The rains have once again intensified in the whole of Maharashtra since the last few days. Due to the continuous rains since the last four days, the atmosphere has become cloudy and there is good rain in the Morbe area as well. The dam was not full for the last 2 years, before that the Morbe dam was full for 3 consecutive years.
